Monthly TDS is the yearly tax divided by 12. PF, professional tax and any tax already deducted this year are not reduced here.
How it is calculated
- Standard deduction is taken off salary: 75,000 in the new regime, 50,000 in the old regime.
- In the old regime your 80C, 80D, HRA, home-loan interest, NPS and other deductions are also reduced, within their limits.
- Taxable income goes through the slabs, then the 87A rebate, surcharge above 50 lakh and 4% cess.
- Monthly TDS is the yearly tax divided by 12. Your employer may spread it differently, and PF or professional tax are not deducted here.
